   At some stage your crisis may be managed by communicators or senior management – for the moment it’s on your patch.You may not normally talk to the media but you will need to ensure those looking at your crisis know it is being managed properly, that you know what is going on and have a plan.

   You may need to brief employees

   Your people are always your greatest asset, you will want to make sure they are well informed and on-board with company themes so no mixed messages are put across in the current crisis.

   You will need to gather your team to manage the response

   Working with remote professionals and senior management, you will gather a response team and work out how you will manage the crisis. You may have to do this jointly with emergency services.

   You are faced with a crisis at one of your industrial sites

   There may be dead or injured, the crisis may impact your reputation and affect local communities. You communications team is not local – you will have to deal with the crisis in its early stages.
